New Delhi: The BJP recently held a rally in north Delhi's Burari to express gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recent decisions benefiting rural villages and parts of the city. Delhi BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva hailed the government's move to resume land mutation in villages and eliminate the need for no objection certificates for power connections. Sachdeva referred to these actions as a "Diwali gift" for residents. He stated that these changes were facilitated after BJP MPs met with LG VK Saxena to address long-standing issues affecting villages and unauthorized colonies.
Sachdeva praised the central government's swift response in addressing the concerns of millions living in unauthorized colonies and non-conforming areas by abolishing the need for departmental NOCs for electricity connections. He also highlighted the reopening of property mutations after a twenty-year hiatus as a significant accomplishment.
In response, AAP accused the BJP of attempting to claim credit for the work done by the Delhi government and misleading the public. The party emphasized that Delhi offers the most affordable electricity in the country and questioned why BJP-ruled states do not provide free electricity if they are genuinely concerned about the people's welfare.
During the rally, Sachdeva underscored the obstacles faced by elders in transferring properties to their children due to restrictions imposed by the Arvind Kejriwal-led government. He noted that, following BJP's advocacy, the restrictions on property mutations were lifted, and the requirement for DDA's NOC for electricity connections in unauthorized colonies was eliminated.
Sachdeva expressed confidence that BJP would emerge victorious in the upcoming elections in February and pledged to extend electricity and water subsidies to middle-class households. The top priorities on the agenda include the implementation of the Prime Minister's housing scheme, Ayushman Bharat, and the regularization of temporary workers such as home guards, bus marshals, and guest teachers. Sachdeva emphasized that no slum colonies would be demolished without offering alternate housing to residents under the BJP's leadership. He also stated that the Yamuna River would be free from pollution within a year as a part of the Nirmal Yamuna Plan.
